Overview

The project

Goss Fine Arts is the official gallery and marketing site for the estate of Bryten Goss (1976-2006), a self-taught contemporary realist painter whose body of work spans oils, pastels, and etchings. The estate needed a dignified, professional online gallery that presented approximately 118 artworks with their titles, mediums, dimensions, and availability status, while providing a way for collectors to inquire about acquisitions and private viewings.

What we built

  • Custom Next.js gallery website with a curated archive of approximately 118 artworks
  • Each piece displayed with title, medium, dimensions, and sold/available status
  • About page with biography covering early life, career, etching work, and legacy
  • Contact form for acquisition inquiries, private viewings, and exhibition questions
  • Video teaser page introducing the artist and the work

How we approached it

An artist's estate needs a site that treats the work with respect, so we built it to let the paintings lead. Each of the roughly 118 artworks gets a consistent record with its title, medium, dimensions, and whether it is sold or available.

Collectors also need a way to act, so the contact form is built for acquisition inquiries, private viewings, and exhibition questions. The about page tells the artist's story, from his early life through his etching work and legacy, and a short video page introduces the artist and the work.

A digital gallery wall

The home page is designed to feel like a quiet gallery wall. Dim light and oil on linen set the tone, a headline names the gallery for the paintings of Bryten Goss, and the years of his life, 1976 to 2006, sit beneath it. A single painting and one of his own quotes give a first-time visitor a sense of the artist before they scroll.

Two clear paths lead from the top of the page: Explore Collection and Artist Biography. The navigation stays short, with Home, Gallery, Video Teaser, About, and Contact.

The collection

The gallery is the archive. About 118 artworks are presented with their title, medium, dimensions, and whether they are sold or available, so a collector can browse the full body of work in one place and see at a glance what can still be acquired.

Keeping that information consistent across every piece is what turns a collection of images into a usable catalog.

Biography, collectors, and acquisitions

A short biography on the home page describes a self-taught, independent painter whose work moved between figurative intensity, symbolic narrative, and intimate studies of identity, with a link to the full biography on the About page. A notable collectors section lists the people who collected his paintings.

For anyone who wants to own a piece, a private acquisition section explains that each painting is an original and invites visitors to get in touch about availability, pricing, and private viewing appointments. The footer repeats the collector services contact details, and a video teaser page introduces the artist and the work.

Built to the same standards as every project

Every Ctrl Shift Run website is custom built from the ground up in Next.js and TypeScript, with no templates or page builders. Each build targets green PageSpeed Insights scores on mobile and desktop, plus 3/3 on the agentic browsing check, and is structured so search engines and AI assistants can read it. The code lives in the client's GitHub repository and the domain stays in their name.
